CIEH Level 2 Award in Environmental Principles and Best Practice
Introduction
This qualification provides an awareness of key environmental concepts and an introduction to environmental management systems. Environmental issues impact on every organisation. The rising costs of energy and raw materials, growing awareness of stakeholders and increasing environmental legislation are forcing organisations to address their own environmental performance. Many organisations have identified that tackling environmental issues can bring benefits to their business including reduced waste and utility costs, reduced liabilities and access to new markets and investors.
Who will benefit?
This qualification has been designed for all members of staff whose activities could have a significant impact on the environment, or supervisors or managers who are being introduced to environmental issues for the first time.
Learning outcomes
Successful completion of the training programme and assessment will enable candidates to understand:
- Key terms used in environmental management primary local and global environmental impacts of their organisation
- Basic principles, key concepts and importance of environmental law
- The link between their jobs and a range of environmental impacts
- Business benefits of adopting an environmental management system
- Key issues related to energy use and carbon management, waste minimisation, water use, pollution and emergency planning
Entry Qualifications and Progression
There are no entry qualifications for this course. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Environmental Management Certificate.
Assessment
The method of assessment is a multiple choice examination at the end of the course. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 questions in order to achieve a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in Environmental Principles and Best Practice.
