CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in Health and Social Care
Introduction
Good health and safety makes good management sense, this qualification has been developed for the Care sector and includes an introduction to both health and safety and also to hygiene. It is a combination of the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace and the CIEH Level 2 Award in Hygiene.
Who will benefit?
This qualification will benefit any health and social care worker, in the public or private sectors. It will help staff recognise the causes of harm and understand the significant risks that their actions can have on the health and safety of patients/clients and colleagues in their work environment.
Learning outcomes
Successful completion of the training programme and assessment will enable candidates to understand the:
- Health, safety and welfare of staff and patients/clients in the health and social care sector
- Importance of risk assessment in the prevention of accidents and occupational ill-health
- Relevant legislation relating to good hygiene practice
- Concepts of hygiene hazards and infection control
- Importance of good personal hygiene
- Need for high standards of cleanliness to help prevent

Entry Qualifications and Progression
There are no entry qualifications for this course. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment – Principles and Practice or the CIEH Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.
Assessment
The method of assessment is a multiple choice examination at the end of the course. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 questions in order to achieve a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in Health and Social Care.
