CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling
Introduction
This qualification introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what to expect from a manual handling assessment. It will enable employees to develop safer manual handling techniques in the workplace.
Who will benefit?
This qualification has been developed to benefit anyone who has to carry out any manual handling activities at work by introducing them to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and the controls that are available to help prevent injury.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course candidates will understand:
- that manual handling operations can be hazardous to health
- how manual handling operations can cause injury and harm
- the scope of legal requirements with regard to manual handling operations in the workplace
- the process for assessing risks from manual handling and the factors that need to be considered in a manual handling risk assessment
- the value of risk assessment and how it applies to safe manual handling practice
Entry Qualifications and Progression
There are no specific entry qualifications for this course. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.
Assessment
The method of assessment for this course is a multiple choice test of 30 questions. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 questions in order to achieve a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling.

Venue
Courses are held at our training centres or alternatively can be held in house at your premises.
Duration
Half a day
We usually aim to start the course at 9am and finish by 12.30pm
This qualification can also be delivered as a one day course with a practical addition as the Level 2 Award in Manual Handling Principles and Practice.
