ISO14001 Environmental Management System Internal Audit Training

Introduction

Periodic audits are essential if an environmental management system (EMS) is to be successful and external certification achieved and maintained. Employee participating in this course will be provided with the basic skills which will enable them to carry out audits successfully with the aim of ensuring that the EMS conforms to planned arrangements and is being properly implemented and maintained.

Who will benefit?

This course is recommended for individuals who have limited no previous knowledge and/or experience of auditing a management system and whose duties have been extended to the auditing of an environmental management system.

(It is recommended that delegates have previously attended an environmental awareness course)

Learning outcomes

To enable delegates to:

• Understand the local and wider environmental issues which may affect the business
• Understand the environmental legislation relevant to the business
• Be able to outline the requirements of the environmental management system
• Plan, conduct, report and follow up on results of an environmental audit

Programme

• The background, basic requirements and structure of an ISO 14001 EMS
• A basic understanding of environment legislation relevant to the business
• The audit process
• Auditor skills, techniques and protocols
• Pre-audit planning
• Conducting and closing out the audit
• Non compliance reporting, corrective actions and follow up
• Post audit action

Training Method

A mixture of PowerPoint presentation, syndicate exercises, DVD, interaction with course tutor and end of course test paper. All delegates will also, within four weeks conduct an EMS audit the results of which will be forwarded to the trainer for marking and feedback.

Duration

2 days

We usually aim to start the course at 9am and finish by 5pm each day
