CIEH Level 2 Award in the Principles of COSHH

Who will benefit?

This course is aimed at those who use substances hazardous to health at work and introduces candidates to the hazards associated with those substances and the risks and controls available. The course also covers what to expect from a COSHH risk assessment.

Learning outcomes

On completing this course candidates will understand:

• The scope of hazardous substances in the workplace
• The range of legislation covering hazardous substances
• How hazardous substances adversely affect health
• Methods of identification for hazardous substances
• Sources of guidance available for the safe use of hazardous substances
• The range of control measures available for the safe use of hazardous substances
• The purpose and content of COSHH risk assessments

Entry Qualifications and Progression

Although this is a stand-alone qualification and there are no specific entry qualifications, the CIEH strongly recommend that candidates should already hold the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment - Principles and Practice Course or the CIEH Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Assessment

There is a short multi-choice test at the end of the course. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 questions in order to achieve a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in the Principles of COSHH.

Venue

Courses may be held in house at your premises. We appreciate that it is sometimes difficult to release staff on training courses; therefore we offer the flexibility to hold the course either in the morning, afternoon or evening, to suit your business requirements. We also regularly run public courses at our training centres.

Half a day

We usually aim to start the course 9am and finish by 12.30pm
