Spill Team Training

Introduction

Few companies consider there to be a need for a dedicated spillage incident plan. Any incident that is serious enough to impact on your normal operations and/or the environment will have an impact on your ability to provide your normal business service. Spillage incidents are no exception and organisations that prepare and plan in advance, taking a more holistic approach to all incident management will gain benefit in improved resilience and create a more sustainable business as a result.

This course has been designed to train members of staff in their roles and responsibilities should an incident involving the spillage of hazardous substances occur.

All employees nominated as a member of spillage incident response team.

Learning outcomes

• Recognise the hazards and the risks posed by the spillage
• Be equipped to deal with the spillage effectively
• Understand why it is important to deal effectively with spillage
• To distinguish between hazardous and non-hazardous spillage
• Understand the limits of your own abilities and to recognise when assistance is required

Programme

• The roles and responsibilities of a member of the spillage team
• Current safety legislation
• Risk assessment of hazardous spillage
• Type of equipment required to deal with spillage including PPE
• Action to be taken depending on hazardous or non-hazardous spillage
• Environmental consequences
• Practical exercise based on a  spillage of substances
• Management of  hazardous substances on site
• Course Assessment and Review

Training Method

A combination of PowerPoint presentation, syndicate exercises and practical demonstration.

Duration and Certification

Half a day

We usually aim to start the course at 9am and finish by 12.30pm

On completion of this course all delegates will receive a certificate of attendance
