CIEH Level 3 Award in Training Skills and Practice

 

  

Introduction

This qualification replaces the popular CIEH Professional Trainer Certificate (PTC). It encourages a flexible approach to training delivery that takes account of learners’ needs and preferences. The CIEH TSP covers initial assessment, planning and preparation, training delivery, assessment and evaluation. It is part of the CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Who will benefit? 

This qualification is aimed at those who want to develop practical training skills and is the minimum requirement for anyone wishing to register to deliver CIEH qualifications* in food safety, health and safety and environmental protection without public funding – for example, in the workplace.

It is also ideal for first-time trainers who need to understand the basics of training skills and practice or those looking to refine their techniques.

* Other training/teaching qualifications are also recognised and conditions regarding technical knowledge and experience also apply.

Learning outcomes

  • understand their own role and responsibilities in relation to training
  • understand appropriate training and learning approaches in a specialist area
  • demonstrate their session planning skills
  • understand how to deliver inclusive sessions that motivate learner
  • understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

Entry Qualifications and Progression

There are no entry qualifications for this course. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Assessment 

To be successful in the assessment, candidates must submit one assignment, which involves delivering a micro-teach session and observing four others. The assignment is first marked by the trainer and then moderated and, if necessary, second marked by the CIEH. Candidates will be awarded a pass or fail grade.

Venue 

Courses are held at our training centres or alternatively can be held in house at your premises.

Duration 

3 days

We usually aim to start the course at 9am and finish by 5pm each day
